Physiotherapy

The neurology physiotherapists apply specialist skills within a team context, to holistically assess and treat with the aim of improving movement and functional capabilities of patients with neurological disorders.

The physiotherapy team provide a thorough assessment and appropriate treatment in conjunction with the diagnostic phase of admission. This is done in close liaison with the consultant neurologist, other members of the multidisciplinary team, the patient and their family or carers. The team is skilled in treating a wide variety of neurological conditions with good integration into the rehabilitation phase. They also facilitate a thorough discharge service to the community, hospitals closer to home or rehabilitation services within the Wellington Hospital.
